Over Labor Day Weekend 16 of K2’s finest went to the Gymnastics Association of Texas Annual Conference in Austin. We sent recreational gymnastics coaches, ninja coaches, team coaches, our front desk staff and administrative team for a weekend of gymnastics, tumbling and ninja education and inspiration.
Over a span of 48 hours, our coaches and staff attended training seminars on not only vault, bars, beam and floor, but on class management, the brain-body connection, team building games, and best practices in customer service. Coach Shelby, our SOAR Team Leader, said “I enjoyed learning how the body and nervous system work so much together. I took away many new activities and practices that I can incorporate into my adaptive gymnastics lessons.”
We also had the chance to build relationships with each other which makes coming to work just that much better! Tiffany Ashby, our Customer Care Team Leader may have said it best,” GAT was a great experience. You learn a lot about the business and get to see how other gyms run their programs. That is what you expect to get out of it. The bonus is that you really get to know your coworkers and realize that even though you are all very different, what you have in common is a desire to work at a gym that makes you feel good about coming to work everyday. The culture that we have at K2 is unique; we have a really diverse and talented group of people and we have FUN! We smile and laugh and we enjoy what we do for a living.”
Our coaches were all tasked with attending different seminars so our company could soak up as much knowledge as possible. And, wow! What a difference we have seen on the floor upon their return; new drills, new games, new reward systems!
And, tonight as I sit here in the gym and watch our amazing staff, I find myself immersed in the squeals of success, the faces of determination, the sound of coaches giving corrections and the background buzz of some classic rock. I couldn’t love this company or this industry more.
